The Australian Constructors Association (ACA) is the peak body representing Australia’s leading construction and infrastructure companies. Its mission is to advocate for a sustainable, productive, and progressive construction industry that is a great place to work. Leading a small, agile team and engaging closely with an 18-member Board, the CEO will lead the strategic agenda, lead forums to make critical decisions in the industry on behalf of the ACA members, and mobilise member resources to deliver sector-wide impact – thereby amplifying the ACA’s voice.

Embarking on delivering its 2025–2030 Strategy, ACA seeks a visionary Chief Executive Officer to lead systemic change across five strategic pillars:

About the Role

Reporting to a large and influential Board, the CEO will:

  • Provide strategic leadership and hands on execution to implement ACA’s long-term vision and achieve the strategic milestones.

  • Advocate for reforms that enable a more productive and sustainable industry and a culture transformed.

  • Represent the ACA members as one voice respected across media outlets, government, and industry forums.

  • Energise member committees and harness industry expertise to drive ACA’s reform agenda.

  • Deliver measurable member value through policy wins and data-led advocacy.

  • Ensure operational excellence, financial sustainability, and governance compliance.

About You

We are seeking a resilient, collaborative leader with:

  • Senior executive experience in construction, infrastructure, or a related sector.

  • Proven capability in government relations, policy advocacy, and Executive engagement.

  • Strong understanding of procurement models, workforce development, and sustainability challenges.

  • High emotional intelligence, determination, and persistence to navigate complex stakeholder environments and “grind through” difficult issues.

  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence at the highest levels.

  • Agility and resilience to unite diverse stakeholders and deliver tangible outcomes.

  • Hands on approach; willing to roll sleeves up and lead strategy execution with a small team.

  • Values-driven and committed to representing the ACA’s members.
