Head of Division, Digital Economy and Technology, Department of Industry

Leading a new Division at the forefront of emerging technologies.

Watermark has been retained by the Department of Industry, who is looking for a senior executive to be the Head of Division, Digital Economy and Technology. This is a newly established role, reporting to the Deputy Secretary, Innovation with responsibilities to provide key advice on the impacts of technology and the digital economy on driving jobs and growth in Australia. The executive will work across the Australian Public Sector in developing policy on Artificial Intelligence, the digital economy, blockchain and represent Australia’s international engagement on technology issues. It is an exciting opportunity to make an impact on and nurture Australia’s growing emerging technologies sector.

We are looking for individuals who are highly credible in new and emerging technologies and can act as a bridge between the government and private sector organisations. The principal aim will be to build better collaboration between Government and the sector, remove obstacles to growth and support appropriate legislation for the industry. You will also bring exceptional strategic and influencing abilities, innovation and a drive to make a difference. We are keen to attract executives from the private sector to consider this highly influential role within Government. The position can be based in either Sydney or Canberra.
