Case Study: Interim Chief People Officer - Education

Remodeled the team

Identified business change agents

Delivered a people-centric culture

Elevated attention to P&C practices

The Client:

A regionally based University required an Interim Chief People Officer to be immediately deployed whilst a permanent search process was undertaken.

The Brief and Solution:

The University wanted to 'over-hire' in this interim period as the new Vice Chancellor/CEO was looking to transform leadership and management practices. Watermark identified a shortlist of proven, focused, immediately available CHRO candidates who had a strong track record in this skill set. We placed the preferred Interim Chief People Officer and he undertook a 12-month assignment.

The Interim’s Contributions:

The interim remodeled and led a team of 55 P&C resources. He engaged the team and identified business change agents in the assessment of the University organisation, leadership, management culture and practices. He designed and implemented initiatives to deliver a people-centric culture and he optimised the contribution of the P&C team capability, operations, programs, systems, and processes. With the University Council (Board) Chair, he established a P&C subcommittee to elevate attention to P&C practices and assist in transformation.

Client Testimonial:

"On behalf of the University, I would like to thank you for the significant contribution he has made over the time he has been working here, a period which coincided with considerable change and system implementation challenges. His commitment, ability to quickly build relationships across the University and lead his team through a period of uncertainty have been critically important."
