Executive Opportunity: Non-Executive Directors - The Australian Sports Foundation

Non-Executive Directors

The Australian Sports Foundation

The Australian Sports Foundation (ASF) is Australia's national sports philanthropy organisation. For four decades, ASF has helped unlock philanthropic investment in sport, connecting donors, partners, governments and sporting organisations to strengthen the future of Australian sport. As the only national organisation through which donations to sport are tax-deductible, ASF enables investment that helps communities and athletes thrive.

Demand for community sport continues to grow, while athletes, clubs and sporting organisations face increasing financial pressures. Philanthropy has an important role to play alongside government investment, commercial revenue and community support in creating a more sustainable future for Australian sport. With the momentum of the Green and Gold Decade leading to Brisbane 2032, ASF is uniquely positioned to grow sports philanthropy and strengthen Australia's future funding model for sport.

ASF is seeking to appoint new Non-Executive Directors to join its skills-based Board and help guide the organisation through its next phase of strategic growth, innovation and national impact.

The Opportunity

The Board plays a critical role in supporting ASF to:

  • Grow philanthropic investment that strengthens community and high-performance sport

  • Build strategic partnerships across government, philanthropy and the sporting sector

  • Shape the future of sports philanthropy in Australia

  • Ensure strong governance, innovation and long-term organisational sustainability

This is an opportunity to contribute to an organisation delivering lasting social impact, helping more Australians participate, perform and belong through sport.

The Appointments

Applications are sought from experienced Non-Executive Directors who bring:

  • Proven board-level governance capability

  • Strong strategic thinking and commercial acumen

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, including experience working with government

  • A genuine commitment to ASF's purpose and values

ASF is particularly interested in candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Leadership across the Australian sporting ecosystem

  • Finance, audit and risk (including committee leadership capability)

  • Digital transformation, technology or customer experience

  • Philanthropy, impact investment or large-scale fundraising

The Board meets quarterly in addition to strategic planning days and an Annual General Meeting. Remuneration is set at $37,040 for the Board Chairperson, $18,520 for Non-Executive Director and $10,160 for the Chair of the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee.
