NECA Education & Careers supports the dynamic and innovative electrical industry in providing training and career opportunities for the next generation of electricians and industry leaders. The NECA Education & Careers Board is searching for a visionary business leader who will embrace the exciting challenge, recognising the commercially demanding COVID environment.

The company was established by the National Electrical and Communications Association, the peak industry organisation for the electrical industry, to meet the industry’s workforce needs and develop innovative training courses.

As a Group Training Organisation, the company partners with leading Victorian and Tasmanian employers to determine the skills they need as well as manage all their recruitment, employment, training, mentoring, payroll, and administration along the journey to ensure the apprentice or trainee successfully completes and ideally continues on within their business. As an RTO, NECA Education & Careers is one of the largest and most successful providers of formal training to the electrical industry.

NECA Education & Careers has significant growth plans and a mandate to improve the electrical industry, ensuring the future workforce is diverse and positioned for the digital world of today. The sector is going through significant digital growth and innovation; remaining at the forefront of these developments and creating hybrid learning models to skill a new breed of apprentices both digitally savvy and with the core practical skills of the electrical trade, is paramount.


The incumbent Chief Executive Officer has signaled to the Board his intention to retire mid-year. Therefore, the Board is now seeking to recruit a new, future-focused Chief Executive Officer who will build on the great work already done and take the organisation forward to its next phase.

About you

On behalf of NECA Education & Careers, we are now seeking candidates with the following attributes:

  • Experience leading a service organisation within a complex stakeholder environment, with exposure to education, training, or relevant sectors.

  • A proven track record for delivering significant transformational change whilst developing and implementing the framework for future state.

  • Extensive stakeholder engagement, influencing and negotiation skills in highly nuanced settings at senior levels within regulatory, industry, peak bodies, membership, business and community stakeholders.

  • Contemporary and highly emphatic people leader with a strong track record of building a positive and collaborative high-performing workplace culture particularly in a merger setting. Can build trust; inspires and motivates; is able to harness the collective capability of staff and key stakeholders to work towards a common goal.

  • Significant exposure to high-level regulatory environments where results have been achieved within regulatory boundaries.

  • Strategic leadership and governance experience working successfully at senior levels and with the Board. Ability to identify and develop strategies aimed at business, operational and delivery improvement.

  • Gravitas, political nous and is an exemplar of trust and integrity.
