The Emergency Services Telecommunications Authority (ESTA) is the critical link between the Victorian community and the State’s Emergency Services Organisations. ESTA answers and dispatches ~2.6m requests a year for assistance from Victorians for Police, Fire, Ambulance and the Victoria State Emergency Service.
ESTA additionally manage the provision of advanced information communication and intelligence data services for Victoria’s emergency service personnel in the field. More than 39 million messages travel over ESTA's radio, data and state-wide Emergency Alerting System each year.
About the role
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Data Services Officer (CDSO) is a newly defined and empowered role within the ESTA executive team and will lead the Emergency Communications Information Services (ECIS) team.
As CDSO, you will lead the operation and improvement of critical digital channel services, data/information management services and intelligence as a service. Leveraging key data and connected devices your leadership will enable emergency service organisations and the Victorian community.
This exciting opportunity will allow you to work collaboratively with key stakeholders to digitally transform and integrate resources. You and your team will create customer focused experiences that will improve and futureproof the communication capabilities of this vital community service.
Working closely with the CIO as a peer, you will partner by bringing knowledge of leading application integration, data intelligence approaches and communication technology best practices.
Enabled by a dedicated organisation, you and your team will migrate the present systems and ways-of-working to a next generation digital proposition supported by real-time AI capabilities.
As the successful applicant, you will demonstrate the ability to be a forward-thinking leader, able to build and develop high-performing teams with the capability of influencing outcomes. Your results driven approach combined with your enthusiasm for implementing customer-focused technologies leveraging data as your base will contribute to your success, as is your extensive experience working at an executive level.
Your relevant technology tertiary qualifications covering business and leading technology standards will assist you to be a potential candidate for this exciting opportunity. Paired with a strong understanding and experience with: AI, connected IoT devices, connected city platforms, data intelligence products, application development and integration platforms – will enable you to provide advanced leadership in this space.
Experience leading data and channel communication platform improvements, application integration practices and understanding how they can be implemented in a highly secure and resilient manner to suit the needs of a 24x7 critical service will support you well with the objectives of the role.
