A Sense of Place
Parks Victoria’s Eastern Victoria Region is responsible for management of a diverse park and reserve estate across four Parks Victoria districts: East Gippsland, Central Gippsland, South Gippsland and North East. With responsibility for nearly 1.6 million hectares, management of the estate involves delivery of initiatives, programs and services to conserve environments, protect culture and heritage, manage visitor facilities, improve recreation opportunities and support fire and emergency management. The Region supports environmental, social and economic outcomes for rural and urban communities in Gippsland and North East Victoria.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this Morwell based (flexible) Regional Director is a critical parks and people leadership role, working collaboratively to deliver high-quality outcomes based on the ‘Shaping our Future’ Corporate and Business plans as well as functional strategies. Leading a region of approximately 200 people, this exciting role will promote a performance-orientated culture that encourages accountability and service / project delivery. With a commitment to protect and enhance park values, the Regional Director will work in partnership with Traditional Owners, other government and non-government organisations and community groups to deliver on the organisations vision and purpose in accordance with the Parks Victoria Capability Framework.
The successful applicant will lead in an ethical and transparent manner that effectively engages Parks’ commercial, strategic and historical partnerships. These include Traditional Owners, Park Management Services, fire and emergency services, Government agencies as well as visitors to the parks.
You will be an excellent communicator to a diverse scope of stakeholder audience, a proven negotiator and influencer and champion of a safe workplace for employees, contractors, volunteers as well as a safe environment for all visitors to the Parks.
