Watermark Search International was retained by a State owned enterprise involved in waste management which is a leader in the industry utilising renewable energy technology.

The brief

We were retained to recruit the role of Director Environment & Safety which reported directly to the Chief Executive Officer with responsibility for providing specialist advice on environmental assurance systems and compliance across the organisation, as well as positioning the enterprise as a leader in renewable energy and green infrastructure.  The organisation would be recognised as having the strongest green credentials of any provider within the waste management industry.

Watermark’s solution

Watermark was successful in attracting a first class field of senior environmental and sustainability executives from government, utilities, commerce and consulting. As the area of environment and safety was an emerging area of public concern our sourcing was vital in enabling us to identify relevant individuals.

The outcome

Apart from successfully “lifting the bar” on the company’s environmental performance as recognised by both customers and regulators, the organisation is at the forefront of reuse technology and infrastructure, with evidence of strong commitment to sustainability. They have reinforced their commitment through investing in major capital projects relating to green infrastructure in its major processing sites. The CEO is entirely satisfied with the outcome of the recruitment process, the performance contribution of the appointee, and considers the Director Environment & Safety as a key member of his Executive Team.
