Case Study

Property Developer

The client (Property Developer)

A unique property investment, development and management company with global operations and a significant asset base.

The brief

Our client required the appointment of a Chief Financial Officer.

Based in the company’s Group Office, the Chief Financial Officer was a critical position in the company’s executive leadership team.  The role was responsible for management of all financial matters, from the strategic (acquisitions & divestments) to the tactical (compliance & reporting).  Most importantly, the company was confronted by a significant re-financing expected within the first 15 months of the new CFO’s tenure.

Watermark’s solution

Watermark Search operates a dedicated Financial Officer Practice.  Under the guidance of the Lead Partner, a highly experienced practitioner in CFO search, a research project team was assembled comprising Watermark’s most qualified CFO Research Associates.  An Australia/New Zealand executive search was subsequently undertaken, focusing on the property investment and funds management sectors..

The outcome

A highly credible shortlist resulted in appointment of a CFO with appropriate investment sector experience.  The CFO subsequently completed a sizeable – and successful – re-financing of the company’s Australian and foreign sourced debt.
